Mexican Scientist Dr. Eva Ramon Gallegos was part of a large team of investigators that have successfully eradicated the Human Papilloma Virus in 29 women in the Mexican capital.
The institution emitted a communique to inform that their patients have been treated with photodynamic therapy, a noninvasive method that helps in combating HPV. This is an unbelievable medical breakthrough for Mexico and for those suffering from the deadly virus that causes cancer. Statistics (from the health department in Mexico), show that HPV has become the second leading cause of death of women and the leading cause of all cervical uterine cancer. Also, the leading cause of anal/rectal cancer in men.
Studies conducted in The Instituto Politecnico Nacional have uncovered the cure and complete eradication of the virus and have achieved a definite and historic victory against cervical uterine cancer and potentially rectal/anal cancer. This treatment not only suppresses the virus but also eliminates the premalignant lesions of cervical cancer, in its initial trials.
Clinical trials were done in two phases. During the first phase of clinical they treated with photodynamic therapy 420 infected patients with HPV from Oaxaca and Veracruz. In the second phase 29 women in the Mexican capital. Some of the patients with premalignant lesions in the cervix were also treated.
In the first phase, they applied treatment on each woman on three separate occasions every 48 hours, with the appropriate amount of time of radiation depending on the severity of the case and types of lesions. The result: complete eradication of the virus in 85% of the women tested and treated.
On the second phase, they doubled the concentration of the acid dose. On this occasion they were successful in eliminating HPV in 100% of the women without lesions. While, women with cervical lesions scientist succeeded in removing HPV to 64% of the women tested and treated.
The innovative treatment consists in applying delta-aminolevulinic acid to the neck of the uterus. According to Dr. Eva Ramon Gallegos, the medicine, “after four hours transforms in to protoporphyrin IX, a chemical fluorescent substance that accumulates in the damaged cells, that enable a special laser to eliminate only the impregnated structures.”
Dr. Ramon Gallegos added that although different from other treatments photodynamic therapy is guaranteed and free of secondary side-effects, “effectively eliminates damaged cells and has no negative impact on healthy cells. Therefore, it has great potential to drastically reduce the mortality rate for cervical-uterine cancer.”
Regardless of sex, if you have not been tested for HPV please consult your doctor immediately and ask to be tested. Your doctor wouldn’t have concerned him or herself before to test you for HPV because the only known treatment was given after the appearance of lesions. The virus can lie dormant for many years but lesions will eventually appear, then cancer and death.
